- Quality before size
- Every quality step is tried at full resolution first. The image is only scaled down when quality alone can't reach your target.
- Transparency is kept
- Transparent PNGs become WebP, which keeps the transparent areas while getting much smaller. JPG can't store transparency, so it is never used for them.
- Photos stay JPG
- A JPG stays a JPG, so it opens everywhere a JPG did.
- Metadata removed
- Re-encoded images don't carry the original's hidden details such as camera model or GPS location.

01Why is there no quality slider?
Most people know the size they need, not the quality number that gets them there. You pick the size; TheFileConvert tries the highest quality first and only reduces dimensions if quality alone can't reach it.
02Why did my PNG become a WebP?
PNG is lossless, so it can't be squeezed much. WebP keeps transparency and reaches far smaller sizes, so it's used when a PNG needs to shrink. You'll always see when the format changes.
03Is my image uploaded?
No. The image is processed in this browser tab and never leaves your device.
