Three steps
How it
works.
- 01
Add a PDF — we check, page by page, whether it is text or a picture of paper.
- 02
Press Convert to Word. Text pages are rebuilt as editable Word content; scanned pages keep their look.
- 03
Download the .docx and open it in Word, Google Docs, Pages or LibreOffice.
Details
Good
to know.
- Native PDFs become editable
- Text in reading order, headings, paragraphs, bold and italic, lists, tables, pictures and columns come across as real Word content, on pages of the same size.
- Scans keep their look
- A scanned form, passport, certificate, invoice, statement or signed page goes into Word as the page itself — borders, handwriting, stamps, signatures, photos and check boxes exactly as scanned. It isn't retyped, so it isn't editable text.
- Want the words of a scan?
- Use Recognize text in the PDF Editor: it makes a scan searchable and its words correctable without changing how the page looks.
- What may need a touch-up
- Unusual fonts, exact positions and complex tables in text PDFs. The goal is a faithful, editable document, not a pixel copy.
FAQ
Questions
answered.
01Will the Word file look exactly like the PDF?
Close, but not identical. We keep the text, headings, paragraphs, lists, simple tables and pictures in reading order, and start each PDF page on a new Word page. Complex layouts may need small formatting touch-ups.
02What about scanned PDFs, forms and passports?
A scanned page is kept as it looks: the page goes into Word as a picture at the same size, so borders, handwriting, stamps, signatures, photos and check boxes are exactly as scanned. It is not retyped, so it isn't editable text. A plain scanned letter may become editable text only when the on-device reading is extremely reliable. To search or edit the words of a scan, use Recognize text in the PDF Editor.
03Which PDFs become editable?
PDFs made on a computer — with real text — become editable Word content: paragraphs, headings, lists, tables and pictures. Pages that are pictures of paper (scans, photos of documents) keep their appearance instead. A PDF with both gets each page treated on its own.
04Is my PDF uploaded?
No. Reading the PDF and building the .docx happen in your browser. Nothing is sent to a server.
05Does it work with password-protected PDFs?
Not with ones that need a password to open. Remove the password in your PDF app first, then convert.
